Grateful for:
- Seeing another spectacular light up at Shoren-in temple.
- Having a tasty soba lunch. Now we know that our favorite cold soba is called zaru-soba so we can order it at other places. And also learned that the water the soba is cooked it remains full of nutrients from the soba itself and it is good to drink it after mixing it with the soba dip like a soup, the water is called soba-yu.
- Having another delicious matcha desert. This one was a sample of 3 flavors in the autumn motif: very sweet mashed potato with sweet read beans, sweet potato ice cream with cappuccino jelly and finally green tea ice cream with burnt crispy rice. Each dish was representative of a unique Japanese flavor and was very enjoyable.
- Having an amazing sake tasting experience at Yoramu – a tiny bar specializing in sake. Being not particularly fond of sake I had my reservations. One drink after another, sake proved to be a complex and multifaceted drink, each new flavor distinctly different to the one before it but all constituting a wonderful evening of taste exploration. Needless to say I quickly developed a taste for this drink. The proprietor and our sake sommelier was a very gracious host indeed and we will be certain to revisit this gem soon.
- Trying several Japanese delicacies at Yoramu: tofuyo which aged tofu and tastes like ripe cheese is an absolute favorite, warm tofu with super spicy Japanese sauce and grilled mochi which is rice flour gooey cakes. All very delicious.
- Watching “Into the Wild” at home about a guy giving everything up to go live in Alaska in nature. The film dragged on a bit and at the end I did not feel I got anything new from it that I didn’t already know. But it does make you reflect on your life to double check whether the priorities are right and whether I am living the life I want to, which I am happy to say I mostly do.
- Seeing an almost 20% increase on my live forex account when I woke up – a complex web of 45+ trades that were live since Tuesday has finally all traded out for a hefty profit. Looking forward to another successful week.
- Getting news about Vanuatu house rental. Just as we were talking about giving it up since we plan on traveling a while longer we finally got an offer to subrent it for a couple of months. Once again it stands true – just need to decide on a course of action and the universe will take care of the details for you.
