First rain in SE Asia

Rode from Halong Bay to Ninh Binh around 4 hours away. Got lost again at the very end of the way but after a couple of u-turns found our way. After checking-in at the hotel decided to walk around town and give our bums a bit of a rest.

IMG_1126On the way these 2 little girls have stopped their bicycle next to us and one of them started tapping Will and pointing at herself. “She wants money..”  I said in a hushed voice. “No, she just wants you to take her picture” said Will. Sure enough he was right and the girls was simply all to happy to wave and pose for a picture. Just goes to show how conditioned I must be.

Shortly after we got caught in the rain, our first rain in SE Asia. Since it wasn’t letting up after a few minutes hiding under a tree we headed across the road for the safety of a small restaurant. There we had strange tea which came served in 2 cups, one hot sweet and one cold herbal. Since the restaurant was off the beaten track and non tourist noone spoke English and the menu was in Vietnamese so the name of the tea brew will forever remain the mystery, but it certainly was delicious. Then we got caught up watching a fairy tale movie with subtitles and stayed their way past the end of the rain well into the night.
