First time rain in Tokyo – no major downpour, but once it started it rained for 3 days pretty much straight!
Had lunch under umbrellas on a park bench. Another subtly beautiful park, enhanced by the misty rain. On the way from the part to Roppongi stopped and watched some local group play baseball – it seems to be pretty big in Japan. First time had all the rules explained to me and it seems that baseball if quite an engaging interesting multi faceted game, who would have thought! Looking forward to seeing a professional match one day.
Hoping for a taste of Tokyo night life headed to Roppongi – “a new and exciting cosmopolitan area of Tokyo” but although we spied the cinema, restaurants and bars in the area, it was far from existing and left us wondering where’s the party at?…
I picked up an interesting “hands on” Kyoto guide book that makes me feel we will be spending quite a few weeks there and also Japanese phrase book which I have since put to good use learning often used phrases and expressions.
