Japan’s matcha central

Grateful for:

  1. Visiting Uji – where some of the best matcha in Japan (and consequently the world) comes from. Surprisingly enough the place was absolutely desolate, the bright leaf season has passed and frequently not a soul was in sight as we wondered the river bank and up and down the closed stores promenades.
  2. Seeing some authentic tea stores with boxes lining the walls each selling unique but indistinguishable to us, mere gaijins, matcha varieties.
  3. Buying 2 types of matcha – one cheap one expensive – the taste test coming up.
  4. Having one of the best matcha shiratama deserts yet – a scrumptious combination of 8 types of sweets & ice cream in one bowl.
  5. Having matcha twice today in different shops and actually tasting the difference.
  6. Finding an article on managing desiresĀ  http://www.sallykempton.com/yjarticles/managingdesire.html after almost giving up the search on this topic.
  7. Finishing another book today. The beauty of reading several books at the same time is that when you get to finish one every day for several days straight feels like a great achievement.
  8. Looking forward to the weekend and catching up with my to do list.
  9. Discussing further travel plans – the mind simple boggles at the possibilities and the heart swells up with gratitude for the means and the ability to travel so freely.
  10. The thing I am grateful to myself today for is that I am such an avid reader.
